40Forward:Moments to Movement

In 2023, AJSOCAL celebrated their 40th anniversary (their ruby year). Each year, AJSOCAL hosts several events: Game Night, Summer Service, and the Gala. However, because it was the big 40th, AJSOCAL hosted 2 additional events: LA Chef's Ruby Table and the Community Dance. Although we outsourced a graphic designer to create the anniversary logo and branding to use throughout the year, I was still in charge of strategizing, creating, and publishing the general information on our website using those branding guidelines.

Note: Throughout the year, we had year-long sponsors and specific event sponsors. Therefore, as the year went on, the sponsorship graphics were always changing as you will notice below.

The 40th Gala Webpage

You will notice that it looks completely from our 39th Gala webpage. With so much information and sponsors, I played around with different layouts to be easier to read but also visible.

The most challenging part was redoing all the sponsorship graphics since there were so many logo/brand restrictions for each organization. But, it was a improvement to use galleries compared to the logo sliders!

2023 LA Chef's Ruby Table

This was a brand new event for AJSOCAL to host in collaboration with Cassia’s LA Chefs for Human Rights (LACHR).

This was an elevated, high class night bringing together acclaimed Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) chefs and community leaders, as well as talent from the entertainment and literary worlds. The night included a multi-course dinner created by 6 acclaimed chefs from five LA restaurants.

With so many honorees and special guests, I found an organized way to highlight each of their achievements while showcasing the event's high-profile status.

Throughout my time at AJSOCAL, I've updated just about every webpage while also creating entirely new ones. See below the ones I've designed from scratch!

AJSOCAL's Annual Newsletter

Started in 2022, the website never had it's own online presence was simply added to our "Annual Reports" page. However, upon seeing that the reports and newsletter held vastly different information, the team decided it was time to start a new webpage.

I created this webpage for all of our newsletters to be accessible from the menu bar. Each year, it would be updated with the latest edition up top, but anyone can view the work AJSOCAL accomplished from previous years at any time.

AJSOCAL's CEO Bio Webpage

AJSOCAL's CEO surprisingly never had her own bio page so all of her work was squeezed into our general team page. However, with so many accomplishments, I wanted her to have a space where it was highlighted. The CEO specifically requested for her bio to include a downloadable headshot since news reporters and journalists often request one upon conducting any type of interview or statement.
